Today was field trip day. Us girls embarked ourselves on a beautiful adventure, away into the hills surrounding Florence. I have been promising Ephia this trip for a while now and although our day started out like it normally does, it all shifted with a phone call.
Thus, we packed a few bags and books for the road and jumped into a train. As the train moved, the tension from the city and all the shackles surrounding me every day, started to fade away. I could even pictured them, screaming in terror and anger that I have dared to leave them behind and run away for a day. Half an hour later, a new town with new faces welcomed us and Ephia grabbed the hand of my friend, happily exploring the new surroundings. Later on when we got to my friend’s house, she discovered a 2 meters high mirror and analyzed herself, making funny faces and using different posses. We had fun giggling in a tall room who giggled back at us and admired the lit Christmas tree.
It was a quiet day. It was a day I will smile upon for a while and cling on whenever I need a mental break. We had so much fun today on our little adventure that by the time we stepped foot on Florentine soil again, we were exhausted, but very chatty. As if her laughter and happy stomping wasn’t enough to show me how much she enjoyed herself today, my daughter hugged me tightly on our way home and said “I uove you! (I love you!)”. It was a quiet day.
