Day 235 – First day

D

For the last ten years we have celebrated the New Year on the road. We have never stayed in one place and the car was the best friend that could take us anywhere our heart desired. This year we wanted to do something different, and because they say that the way you start your year will define the rest of it, we decided to do something a little out of ordinary.

We spent our day among old friends, playing with the children, eating and laughing at jokes that only we can understand. It was a beautiful day and for the first time we wanted to end this day at home. We took the last train to Florence, smiled at all the teenagers rushing downtown to catch the fireworks and Ephia taught us a new, fun game that I could never describe using words. The last half an hour from last year we cuddled and put our daughter to bed, and then we turned on our computers, we dedicated a nice cappuccino to the next year, lit some stars and started working. Yes, working. This is the way we wanted to start our year, doing what we love the most. Freaks? Maybe, but just like we were freaks before, always on the road, never standing still for a second, we will continue to be freaks this year too, but in a different way. And if it really is as they say, that means we will continue doing what we love all year long (who am I kidding, we were going to do that anyway 🙂 )

I hope you had a wonderful beginning of the year and an amazing kiss at midnight. May this year be gentler on all of us, and will shed some light on the right path, so we can get there faster, if not easier. Happy first day of the year!
