Shhh…the phone might ring…shhh…nobody move because my phone might ring… shhh nobody make a sound…all of you just stop, my phone might ring. Oh wait, right! My phone sucks so it doesn’t make any sounds any more. No problem, I will hold it in my hand and not let it down, not even for a second until it rings. The last twenty five days of this project will be...
Day 329 – A little piece of happiness
We had such an amazing day today. We took a break from everything and almost everyone and it was fantastic. I am not sure if it was the long walk downtown, or seeing some good friends for five minutes while Ephia petted their bunny, if it was the great time we had at the diner or the incredible muffins D baked, but it was a well deserved break from any dark thoughts and daily frustrations. Also...
Day 327 – Unusual traditions
When I was a little girl Easter wasn’t such a popular holiday in our house. Our traditions included a little cooking, getting new clothes and shoes and visiting family all day long so we can eat their food. 🙂 That was about it and although it seemed lame for many of my friends I was really happy with that. I didn’t have an Easter Bunny or receive any presents and that never bothered...
Day 322 – Getting ready
The final preparations for the Writing Workshop are being made and everything is coming together nicely. People are excited, locations are being decided and ideas are coming to life. As writers we each take a different journey when telling others the stories we create. We have different voices, different approaches. My journey started on the streets of a small town in the mountains almost 17...
Day 321 – Details
I am all about the small details in everything. For instance if I receive a gift I am so excited about the wrapping and the bow on it and less about the actual present that’s inside. If I would go into a store, I would admire the small details they used to arrange the windows or the merchandise. If I would go to someone’s house I would freak out about the small boxes or any small...
Day 307 – Quiet
After 12 hours of being away from home and another hour spent with Ephia, everything is quiet now. Suddenly all the noise in my brain disappeared, leaving my thoughts to rest for a while. Beautiful day, amazing day, crazy, exciting day. It’s so quiet right now that I can barely allow my fingers to type too loud. Shh, shh…The full on working day came with a nice reward right towards...
Day 299 – Lazy day
Ah, the beauty of a lazy day; relaxing, spending time with family and friends, not touching the keyboard all day. Even the wind stopped its fury today and made room for a little sunshine on the streets of Florence. Sometimes, rarely though, the keyboard becomes one of my worst enemy, sometimes I need to break up with technology for at least several hours and it’s wonderful. It’s like...
Day 298 – Wind… bad wind
Last night I put my daughter to bed and imagined my next few hours spent in bed, watching a movie, all tucked in and comfortable. My bad. Last night, me and the cat couldn’t sleep and we stayed up almost the entire night. Every time I tried to get him inside the house he started meowing and scratching the door to get outside and stay on the balcony. It seems that he felt much safer outside...
Day 297 – Rainy day, Florence, work session
Just when you start bragging to people that spring is here, that the winter coats are gone, that the sun remembered to show up in the morning, clouds gather all over the city and it’s raining, and raining, and when it stops… well, it didn’t stop all day. Usually bad weather agrees with me, although everyone keeps saying that you supposedly are moody on a cloudy/rainy day. I am...
Day 284 – 6 things I love about Florence
I fell in love with Florence long before I became one of its residents. In time my reasons have changed and the touristy ones are long gone and left behind now. So, how does Florence manage to keep us trapped into its spiderwebs? These are six of my reasons: 1. In less than a month you are already experiencing Florentine feelings. Every single expat friend I have talked to has told me how much...
